A family movie focused on the Itailan sub culture, “Gomorra,” ironically helped Italian police track down real Italian criminals, in Modena, which is in… take a guess… Italy!!!

The Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, writes that the film was screened at a Naples prison, where inmates recognized one of their own among the film’s cast.
The film also debuted at the Cannes film festival, but people are a little more bright there, as you might guess, and kept their mouths shut.

The actor, credited in the film as Gio_ _ _ _o Ven_ _a, is reported to be a wanted criminal with a passion for acting.

Police said they easily tracked him down and that “We would have never known
V_ _osa was who we were looking for if he had not been recognized by the inmates who saw the film.”

A spokesman for the Carabinieri in Naples couldn’t seem to remember which crime the actor had been accused of in real life, but for some reason there is now a hit on the prisoners who ratted out the actor.

The director of the film could not be reached for this article. But then again we didn’t try too hard.
